The color is deep and dark reddish purple, almost Midnight black. Aromas of toasted vanilla bean, dried herbs, and ripe black fruit lead to very ripe plum and black cherry on the palate. Earth, spicy vanilla, and roasted cashew round out this full-bodied wine. The finish is well structured with balanced fruit and acidity. Drink now through 2028.

The 2016 vintage started off with respectable weather through bloom and set. Our first bit of 100-degree weather came during the sizing phase which affected berry growth on many of our varietals. In September, the ripening was lengthened with the hot and cool temperature swings. Overall, winemakers are optimistic about the yields with no significant factors like freezes or prolonged heat spikes affecting the crop.
