2014 Capriccio Italien
Inky ruby. Black and blue fruits, licorice and a hint of smoky oak on the perfumed nose. Supple and broad on the palate, offering lush cassis and blueberry flavors that take a spicy turn with air. Slow-mounting tannins frame the persistent finish, which leaves a hint of candied flowers behind. – Josh Raynolds
2014 went very smoothly for Paso Robles. Although yields were slightly down due to California’s second consecutive year in drought, the grapes displayed a beautifully concentrated intensity. There were no major fluctuations this growing season. Without heat spikes or cool stretches, Paso Robles vintners were able to produce wines that displayed richness, balance, and fully mature tannins.
