The Aurora project began in 2004. Originally meant to be a subservient blend to the wonderful wines of Robert Haas at Tablas Creek, it has become our most awarded white wine in Midnight history. While our lives don't revolve around scores, we appreciate when the wines are recognized. The current 2018 vintage has three 90 point plus scores.

This is a rich blend of several of the beautiful Rhone white varietals grown on the following acclaimed Paso Robles vineyards:

28% Viognier from Four Lanterns Vineyard in the Willow Creek District

28% Picpoul Blanc from Joseph Beato Vineyard in the El Pomar District

28% Grenache Blanc from the Dawson Creek and Joe Beato vineyards in the El Pomar District

16% Roussane from Caliza Vineyards in the Willow Creek District

Tasting Notes
Ripe pear and white blossoms dominate the nose with hints of lemon. Tropical fruit and citrus notes create weight in the mid-palate and lead to a crisp, lingering finish one would expect from our reserve white blend.

Vineyard Notes
The 2018 vintage saw an almost ideal balance of vine health and stress, as is often the case with the first dry year after a very wet one. The rain came late, delaying the onset of bud break and the beginning of the growing season. The cool weather continued most of the year, punctuated by a six-week heat wave in July and early August. Temperatures moderated before picking began and harvest proceeded under slightly cooler than normal conditions producing fruit with intense flavors and good balancing acidity.
